### Can Wood Contain Over 100% Moisture Content?

Contrary to the misconception, wood cannot contain moisture content (MC) exceeding 100%. MC is expressed as a percentage of the dry weight of wood. When wood is fully saturated, no more water can be absorbed, and its MC reaches 100%. However, under certain conditions, such as during submersion in water, wood may absorb additional water and expand beyond its normal size. However, even in these instances, the MC remains at 100%.
